European HardTech growth

From first-of-a-kind to industrial scale

NOAK Capital is being developed to support proven physical technologies at the point where they must become repeatable, contracted and bankable infrastructure.

Project in development | European HardTech

Why now

The next investment supercycle is physical

Artificial intelligence, electrification, energy security and industrial reshoring are rewriting the physical foundations of the economy. Energy systems, industrial production and digital infrastructure are converging into one interdependent system, and that system needs new hardware, new plants and new ways of financing them.

  • Challenge 1

    Sovereign and safe AI infrastructure

Compute growth requires power, cooling, data centres and secure connectivity.

  • Challenge 2

    Grid stability

Renewables, electrification and AI loads require flexibility, storage and smarter distribution.

  • Challenge 3

    Energy security

Europe needs resilient, flexible and domestically anchored energy systems.

  • Challenge 4

    Industrial competitiveness

Factories must electrify, automate and digitise to remain globally competitive.

  • Challenge 5

    Reshoring and resilience

Industrial sovereignty requires secure supply chains, advanced materials and circularity.

Our thesis

Too physical for venture, too early for infrastructure

NOAK Capital, designed to address the missing middle

Between a first commercial deployment and a bankable asset there is a gap that neither venture capital nor infrastructure capital is built to fill.

Technologies that work struggle to become repeatable because growth capital and scaling expertise are scarce at exactly this stage.

FOAK builds scalability. NOAK proves repeatability.

Strategy

DEPLOY: an integrated approach to growth and deployment

At the stage NOAK Capital is designed to address, the technology is proven but its financing is not. DEPLOY is the intended response: an approach that treats the company and the assets it deploys as two problems to be solved together. Below, why that gap exists and how the two streams of capital would work.

  1. DiscoverBreakthrough, proven innovations at growth inflection.
  2. EngineerScale up operations and execution.
  3. PartnerPartnerships enable manufacturing, sales and supply chain.
  4. LaunchCustomers buy output as a service.
  5. OptimiseCost of capital falls with expanding markets.
  6. YieldDeployments become a repeatable platform.

Why DEPLOY

Technology readiness is necessary. Investment readiness is where we intend to work

Technology readiness (TRL)

Whether the technology works. By the time a first commercial unit exists, this question is largely answered.

Investment readiness (IRL)

Whether its deployment can be financed: contracted demand, industrial delivery and allocated risk. This is where a company moves from proof to platform, and where most of them stall.

Financing deployment is the work our team has done for two decades. See our track record

How DEPLOY works

Two streams of capital, one proposition

Closing the investment readiness gap means solving two problems at once: the company has to scale, and the projects it deploys have to be financed. DEPLOY would address each with its own stream of capital, assessed separately and designed to work in sequence.

  • Growth equity

    Company level

Capital to take proven technology companies from first commercial deployments to category leadership: team, operations, commercial engine and governance.

  • Deployment capital

    Project level

Capital to finance the first repeatable projects at asset level, so customers can buy contracted output rather than own the factory, and the first units become financeable infrastructure.

The initiative

A HardTech growth initiative in development

NOAK Capital is an initiative in development, created by a team with integrated experience in HardTech venture investing, project and deployment finance, industrial execution and regulated asset management. Its intended focus is the stage where proven physical technology must become repeatable, contracted infrastructure.
